Squid Game Season 2 release Date, Cast, Plot and More: Watch on Netflix

Squid Game was a big hit on Netflix in 2021. It became the most-watched series, even though it’s in Korean. The show had a great story, and awesome acting, and it got scarier as it went on. The creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, wanted people to think about their own lives while watching. Like, who are they in this world? The show won a bunch of awards, even at the Emmys. Now, fans are excited for Season 2, but we don’t know when it’s coming. Netflix told us about new characters, and we’re still getting over what happened to our favorite ones in Season 1. People love Squid Game, and they’re really curious about what’s going to happen next in Season 2.

Netflix recently revealed about the last group of actors joining Squid Game Season 2. Eight new stars, mentioned in the Cast section below, will be part of the team. They also mentioned that the actors got together to read through the script during the week of June 26. The actual filming of the new season is set to start later in 2023. So, even though we don’t know when it will be ready for us to watch, the show is making progress with the cast getting together to read the story. It sounds like they’re gearing up to bring us another exciting season of Squid Game.

Squid Game: Release Date

Season 2 of Squid Game doesn’t have a release date yet. The actors just read the script together in June 2023, and filming won’t start until later this year. This means we might need to wait until 2024 or even later to watch the new season. So, it looks like there’s a bit of time before we can dive into the next round of the Squid Game story.

In Season 1 of Squid Game, many of our favorite characters, like Sang-woo played by Park Hae-soo, and Kang Sae-byeok played by Jung Hoyeon, didn’t make it. It’s tough to think about Squid Game without them, but we don’t have a choice. On June 17, at Tudum: A Global Fan Event, Netflix showed a video telling us about the cast for Squid Game Season 2. We already knew Lee Jung-jae, who played Seong Gi-hun or Player 456, would be back for more games. But in the video, we found out about new players joining in for the next round of dangerous challenges. The excitement for Season 2 is building up!

For Squid Game Season 2, we’ll see familiar faces like Lee Byung-hun as the Front Man and Wi Ha-jun as Hwang Jun-ho, a surprising return considering the last time we saw him, he was in a tough spot. Gong Yoo, who had brief appearances in Season 1, is making a comeback, exciting fans. The video also introduced new players: Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-geun, though we don’t know much about their characters yet.

On June 28, Netflix shared more names joining Squid Game Season 2: Park Gyu-young, Jo Yu-ri, Kang Ae-shim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, and Won Ji-an. The cast is growing, and it looks like Season 2 will bring a mix of familiar faces and new talents into the intense world of Squid Game.

The teaser for Squid Game Season 2 shows a big robot doll we saw before, with a flickering number two in its eye. The creator, Dong-hyuk, shared a message, saying it took 12 years to make Squid Game, but only 12 days to become super popular. The post hinted at the return of familiar characters like Seong Gi-hun and The Front Man. The main plot in Season 2 will be about revenge, with Lee Byung-hun’s character taking a more central role. At the end of Season 1, only Gi-hun and Cho Sang-woo are left, and Gi-hun wins. The teaser suggests more dangerous games in Season 2. Dong-hyuk is still figuring out ideas, but he promises more exciting challenges. He even joked about bringing back some dead characters, like maybe someone having a twin sister.
